Position Title: Cleaner
This position will be taken by all employees as there is not an exclusive cleaner position, the shift/floor manager will determine who will perform these duties every day.
Reports To: SHIFT / FLOOR MANAGER
Job Summary:
• Keeps restaurant in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning kitchen equipment every day, floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning debris from sidewalk
Position Tasks:
• Gathers and empties trash
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Clean and restore building interiors if damaged, using commercial cleaning equipment
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixture
- • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
- • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks
- • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
- • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- • Cleaning tables and customer service
- Position Competences
• Knowledge of cleaning machines and tools
Equipment used:
• Walk-in and reach-in coolers, steam tables, mixers, tongs, salamander, knives, spatula, plates, griddle, oven, broiler, burners, pans, towels, cleaning solutions, can opener, scale, measuring utensils, scoops, ladles, spoons, microwave, hot plate, broom, dust pan, mop, water hose, squeegee, biotherm, ticket slide, bowls, fryer, wire whisk, among others
Position Requirements:
• Must be 18 years or older
• Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials
• Ability to lift and carry sacks and cases of up to 70 lbs., up to 20 times per shift: places these items on high shelves and in walk-in coolers
• Frequent reaching/ grasping/ handling, frequent pushing and pulling (0-30 lb.), frequent stooping/ bending/ crouching
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred. MUST speak English
• Ability to quickly identify safety placards and hazardous situations in order to avoid or minimize injuries and property damage
• Must adhere to Chilorio's uniform, procedure and performance standards and policies and MUST maintain a clean and professional image
